One critically injured in Centurion accident
One patient was in a critical condition following an accident involving three vehicles in Rooihuiskraal on Friday evening.
The accident occurred at around 21:00 on the Old Johannesburg Road.
Community medical service CERT-SA spokesperson Ruan Heyns said four patients sustained injuries as a result of the accident.
“One of the patients was found to be in a critical condition,” said Heyns.
“The patient was trapped in the wreckage of one of the vehicles. The fire department had to use the Jaws of Life to free the patient.”
Heyns said the patients were transported to various facilities by Netcare911, Emer-G-Med and ER24, among others.
The exact cause of the accident is unknown at this stage and will form part of a police investigation.
Meanwhile, the section of the road between Nellmapius Drive and the N1 on-ramp had to be closed for about two and a half hours as a result of the accident.
“One of our members who stays near the scene alerted our patrols after he heard the collision,” said local sector 2 CPF spokesperson Mynhardt le Roux.
“Our members on patrol then alerted the emergency services.”
